Next Meeting

The ASMD provides a forum for the exchange of ideas on current issues in science museums, affording an opportunity for issue-driven discussions among directors in an informal setting. Annual meetings are held annually and always provide informative and stimulating forums for dialogue.

The atmosphere is one where participants can relax, reflect, and learn from their peers. Guest speakers at past meetings have included Neil Chalmers, Director of the Natural History Museum of London; Des Griffin, Director of the Australian Museum; Bonnie Pittman, chair of the AAA Accreditation Commission; Judith Wurtzel, Director of the U.S. Department of Education’s Mathematics Initiative; William Brown, Science Advisor to the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Interior; Paul Hawken, author of The Ecology of Commerce; and Jane Lubchenco, Professor of Marine Ecology and Distinguished Professor of Zoology at Oregon State University.
